Christmas presents!!!!!

So, let's be honest. Presents and toys, back when I was a kid, were awesome.

I remember the DELIGHT that I had when the Sears Wishbook would arrive! There was an entire humungous toy section! Amazing.

But alas, a girl can't get everything she wants. This blog post is dedicated to both the toys I got and the toys that got away.

Let's start with Baby Uh Oh. Who remembers when I got this??? I was SO EXCITEDDDDD when Santa brought it to me! Here's the best pic I could find!

First of all, Baby Uh Oh could actually drink water. But first, you must select her diaper! Do you want Baby Uh Oh to pee today? Please select the "pee" diaper. Do you want her to go #2? Please select the poop diaper! Your choice!

Then, you fill up her bottle, and squeeze it into her mouth, and voila! The water shoots out the other end of her and not only does the pee or poop appear on the diaper, the water also goes EVERYWHERE ELSE. Those diapers weren't very well sealed.

But wait! There's more. Did Baby Uh Oh hurt the top of her hand? Not a problem. All you need to do is kiss her hand (i.e. inflict heat) and a cute little bandaid appears. One problem. The bandaid didn't appear so easily. So usually I was left slobbering all over the hand until a bandaid faintly appeared, which usually satisfied me enough to stop. The bacteria that I must have ingested from that hand....

So what ever became of Baby Uh Oh? Last time I heard, a Shipp child had stolen her and cut all of her hair off.

Next! POWER WHEELS. Who remembers Power Wheels?? Look how much fun they're having going 5 km/hr!

This was one of those presents that I would have given my 7 year old life for. Years later, I find out Scott actually HAD a Power Wheels when he was little!!! Where were you 15 years ago when I needed you???

The next present has a very special place in my heart. Many of you may not know this about me, but one of my career aspirations when I was young was to work at a grocery store. There are a few reasons for this. My love of buttons. I really love buttons. Pressing buttons all day - what a life. I must mention though that Sobeys cashier buttons are really unsatisfying. But anyway. Also, the STAR. Does anyone remember the star swipe thingie? It's a boring square screen now.

Anyway, so to begin honing my skills for my future career, I started training. When Dad would get home with groceries, I would take them all out of the bags (how HELPFUL of me now that I think about it!), and then I would get a Kleenex box and flip it over and this was my cash register. I would happily weight fruits and vegetables, type in codes and say BEEP for every single item.

So, check out this sweet register. The conveyor belt actually moved and there is a real live STAR swiper thing, a weight scale and even a place to swipe the credit card!!! My kids are TOTALLY getting fake cash registers as presents. Oh and Santa, I'm not sure I ever conveyed my love of this register to you, so no hard feelings about not getting it for me.

And finally, I just wanted to mention one last present that I DID get. One of the most exciting moments of the Foster children's lives was the Christmas morning we ran into the living room and saw we had gotten a MCDONALDS PLAY SET!!!!!! That was the coolest.thing.ever. And it was a TOTAL surprise. I tried to find a fabulous picture of it but apparently it does not exist on the internet. Think about just how long that McDonalds green headset stuck around. YEARS.

That's my list of presents that I loved and lost. I am making up for lost time with my multiple posts so stay tuned for my next one which be sometime in the new fews days!!!!

The end!!!

Design Inc/Sarah's House

Hello y'all!

Sorry for the delay in my posts! It shall not happen again my friends.

So I mentioned in one of my other posts that I love the designer Sarah Richardson. She had the show Design Inc and then the show Sarah's House. Design Inc was about her and her team designing individual rooms, and there were four seasons of Sarah's House where she re-does an entire house.

The second season I think was my favorite. She bought this house not too far outside of Toronto. I think what made it appealing to me was that it reminded me a bit of my house! Here is the before and after:

So the biggest things she did on the outside were "staining" (i.e. looked like painting to me) the brick, and getting new windows where the frames of the windows were a natural wood rather than the typical white windows. Clever Sarah, clever.

Another amazing thing she did was in the living room. The living room had your typical fireplace with an icky beige-ish brick colour. She covered over the brick - the room looks 8,000% times fresher. Check it out!

I love this before and after because there are SO many houses that I have seen that look like this and it's so satisfying to see this change. I'm not how anyone who isn't rich could accomplish it but it's still fun to watch.

Finally, here is the difference between the old entry way and the new one. The glass thing is in place of those yucky shelves in the before version. How fab is this??

A few other random pics from Design Inc episodes I love. The first is a wicked laundry room.

The design of the next one isn't what attracted to me but more so the bright painting. Sarah does a lot of whites and creams with her designs, and then usually finds awesome artwork that pops. This is an example of that and I LOVE this look. I am always on the hunt for clever artwork (although I own basically none) and I love multicoloured stuff.

That's it for me peeps! I'm rather obsessed with the show Sarah's House lately so stay tuned for more. She just finished her 4th season of it. She built a new home in a suburb and showed how to make the most of builder upgrades and how to make your cookie cutter home not so cookie cutter :)

The end!
